Welcome

to the 50th Anniversary EHRS Meeting from 1st to 3rd September

2022 in Hannover, Germany

The deadline for applying for the Young Investigator Award has been extended until 15th August, 2022

It is a great pleasure and honor for us to welcome you back in Hannover to join the 50th Anniversary EHRS Meeting.

In 1981 the 10th EHRS Meeting was hosted in Hannover and as reported “ the weather was hot and every thing was in a first class conditions“.

Hannover is the capital of Lower Saxony and known as Germany´s greenest city. The city forest Eilenriede, parks and the famous Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen offer attractive recreation areas for citizens and visitors.

Beyond its high recreational value Hannover has earned an international reputation as a trade fair and congress location. Its large numbers of universities and research institutions enable first class academic studies.

Venue

Our conference will take place in the newly built Leibnizhaus, located in the center of the historic old town of Hannover.

The Leibnizhaus fulfills two functions for the Leibniz University and other universities in Hannover: On the one hand, it is the central guest house, whose apartments also extend over the two neighbouring buildings, and on the other hand, numerous scientific events take place here. For this purpose, a meeting room, seminar and conference rooms were accommodated in the Leibnizhaus. There is also a small Leibniz exhibition on the ground floor.

The historic Leibnizhaus was built in 1499 as the residence of a patrician family and was about a 5 minutes‘ walk from our current guest and conference center at Schmiedestrasse 10. The Leibnizhaus got its name in the 19th century in memory of its most famous resident: the philosopher and polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Leibniz moved into his quarters here in 1698 after the Hannoverian elector had rented the town house to house the court library and his librarian, advisor and genealogist. Leibniz lived at Schmiedestrasse 10 in Hanover until his death in 1716. Here he developed his essential philosophical and mathematical concepts. He inspired history and religion and gave impetus to law and the general organization of science.
